India Biz Data provides B2B Company Databases, B2B Business Databases, and B2C Business Databases intended for legitimate business communication, recruitment, market research, lead generation, sales intelligence, and business development activities. As a data provider operating in India’s evolving data protection landscape, we believe responsible data usage is a shared responsibility between provider and customer. We encourage all customers to use purchased business information responsibly, professionally, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

This page outlines the ethical principles and responsible usage practices we expect customers to follow when accessing and using business information supplied by India Biz Data. It is designed to help customers build sustainable, compliant, and effective business communication practices while protecting the interests of the individuals and organizations represented in our datasets.

Legitimate Business Use

Business information should be used only for genuine business purposes. Responsible usage focuses on creating value through relevant communication, market intelligence, recruitment, networking, and commercial engagement activities. Data should never be acquired with the intent to harass, deceive, or exploit the individuals or organizations it identifies.

  • Business development and sales prospecting
  • Market research and competitive analysis
  • Recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Supplier and vendor identification
  • Business partnership development
  • Industry research and strategic planning
  • Geographic market expansion initiatives
  • B2B outreach and commercial engagement
  • Investor and stakeholder mapping for legitimate fundraising or M&A activity
  • Event invitations, trade show outreach, and industry networking
  • Building internal CRM and account intelligence systems for existing sales territories

Before using any dataset, customers should be able to articulate a clear, legitimate business purpose for the outreach. If a use case cannot be reasonably justified as serving a genuine commercial or professional interest, it likely falls outside the scope of responsible use.

Professional Communication Standards

Organizations using purchased business information should conduct communications in a transparent, respectful, and professional manner. Every outreach effort reflects not only on the sender’s organization but also on the broader B2B data industry, and India Biz Data expects its customers to uphold high standards accordingly.

  • Clearly identify your organization where appropriate
  • Communicate honestly and accurately
  • Provide truthful and relevant information
  • Maintain professional communication standards
  • Avoid deceptive, misleading, or abusive practices
  • Respect the business context of communications
  • Ensure marketing claims and offers referenced in outreach are accurate and substantiated
  • Avoid impersonating other organizations, brands, or individuals
  • Include clear sender identification and a legitimate way for recipients to respond or opt out
  • Tailor messaging to the recipient’s role, industry, and likely business context rather than sending generic mass communication

Respect Communication Preferences

Customers should respect applicable unsubscribe requests, suppression requests, opt-out preferences, and other communication preferences communicated by recipients. Recipient consent and preference management remain the customer’s responsibility once data has been purchased and put to use.

  • Maintain suppression or do-not-contact lists where appropriate
  • Respect requests to discontinue communication
  • Avoid excessive or repetitive outreach
  • Use reasonable communication frequency
  • Focus on relevance rather than volume
  • Honor opt-out requests within a reasonable timeframe and avoid re-contacting suppressed records
  • Provide a straightforward mechanism (such as a reply instruction or unsubscribe link) for recipients to exercise their preferences
  • Apply suppression consistently across all campaigns and channels, not just the one where the request was received
  • Periodically cross-check outreach lists against internal do-not-contact records before large campaigns

Data Security and Confidentiality

Purchased datasets should be protected through appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, consistent with reasonable security practices expected under Indian data protection law.

  • Restrict access to authorized personnel
  • Store data securely
  • Protect against unauthorized disclosure
  • Maintain internal data handling procedures
  • Periodically review security practices
  • Implement appropriate access controls
  • Use encryption or access-restricted systems for storage where feasible, particularly for datasets containing email addresses
  • Limit data exports, downloads, and copies to what is operationally necessary
  • Maintain an internal record of who has access to purchased datasets and revoke access when no longer needed (e.g., upon employee exit)
  • Have a documented process for responding to a suspected data security incident involving purchased datasets
  • Avoid storing purchased data on unsecured personal devices or unauthorized third-party cloud services

Data Quality and Verification

Business information may change over time — companies relocate, personnel change roles, and contact details are updated. Customers should independently verify important information before significant business decisions or large-scale outreach.

  • Verify critical information before major campaigns
  • Maintain updated internal records
  • Remove outdated or invalid information where appropriate
  • Periodically review data quality
  • Cross-reference high-value records (such as key accounts or large-scale campaign targets) against current, publicly available sources before outreach
  • Establish an internal cadence for refreshing or re-validating datasets used on an ongoing basis
  • Report significant data quality concerns back to India Biz Data to help improve dataset accuracy for all customers

Responsible Use of Business Information

Business information should be used only for legitimate commercial activities consistent with the purpose for which it is provided.

B2B Company Databases may include company email addresses and company phone numbers. B2B Business Databases and B2C Business Databases primarily contain publicly available business information and business phone numbers. Business email addresses are not ordinarily included unless explicitly stated or provided as part of a customized database request.

India Biz Data does not intentionally collect, compile, process, market, or sell employee personal information, private or personal email addresses, consumer personal databases, student databases, residential contact databases, or any category of sensitive personal data.

Customers should treat all fields within a purchased dataset consistently with their stated purpose — for example, a database sourced for B2B recruitment outreach should not be repurposed for unrelated consumer marketing without independent legal review of that use case.

No Unauthorized Redistribution

Unless expressly authorized, customers should not redistribute, publish, sublicense, resell, or otherwise make purchased datasets available to unauthorized third parties.

Purchased datasets are intended for the customer’s own internal business use. This includes a prohibition on:

  • Uploading or publishing purchased datasets, in whole or in part, to public websites, forums, or file-sharing platforms
  • Sharing datasets with unrelated third parties, affiliates, or partners without India Biz Data’s prior written consent
  • Incorporating purchased datasets into another product or dataset offered for sale or distribution
  • Providing dataset access to freelancers, vendors, or agencies beyond what is reasonably necessary to perform authorized work on the customer’s behalf, and without appropriate confidentiality safeguards

Activities We Discourage

  • Fraudulent or deceptive activities
  • Identity misrepresentation or impersonation
  • Harassment or abusive communications
  • Spam or excessive untargeted outreach
  • Unauthorized redistribution of purchased datasets
  • Publishing purchased data on public platforms
  • Phishing, social engineering, or cybercrime activities
  • Use of data for unlawful purposes
  • Activities that violate applicable laws or regulations
  • Using purchased data to build or train datasets for unrelated resale, scraping enrichment, or third-party data products
  • Combining purchased business data with unrelated personal or sensitive data to create profiles beyond the original business purpose
  • Automated, high-volume messaging that disregards recipient consent frameworks under applicable law

Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring that purchased datasets are used in accordance with applicable laws (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Information Technology Act, 2000), regulations, internal policies, and responsible business practices. This includes, where applicable, compliance with:

  • Data protection and privacy laws and rules issued thereunder
  • Information technology and cybersecurity regulations
  • Sector-specific regulations applicable to the customer’s industry
  • Any consent, marketing, or telecom regulations applicable to the customer’s outreach channel (e.g., call, SMS, email)

India Biz Data provides business information as a data supplier; customers remain independently responsible for how they use that information within their own operations and jurisdictions.

Benefits of Responsible Data Usage

  • Improved communication quality
  • Stronger business relationships
  • Higher engagement and response rates
  • Better brand reputation and credibility
  • Reduced compliance and business risk
  • More effective business development outcomes
  • Lower unsubscribe and complaint rates over time
  • Greater long-term return on investment from data-driven outreach programs

Our Commitment

India Biz Data supports responsible business data practices and encourages customers to use purchased business information in a lawful, ethical, and professional manner.

India Biz Data is committed to providing business information products while respecting privacy principles. We do not intentionally collect, compile, process, market, or sell employee personal information, private or personal email addresses, consumer personal databases, or sensitive personal data.

We continually review our data sourcing and compilation practices to align with applicable Indian law, and we expect the same diligence from our customers in how they apply the data they purchase.

We believe that responsible use of business information contributes to a healthier business ecosystem — one where outreach is relevant, communication is respectful, and data practices build trust rather than erode it.
