SHIBPUR PUBLIC LIBRARY was established in the year 1874. From the old records and documents  we have come to know that the library was first established in a room at Halderpara Lane of , Shibpur under the name of 'NEWS ROOM' BY Late KANGALI CHARAN HALDER.
