Description
Originating in the foothills of the Himalayas in northeast India, eri silk takes its name from the castor leaves on which the caterpillars feed, known as "erinda" in Hindi. Founded in 2013 by Jyoti Reddy, Ereena's workshops master all the production stages of eri silk, from spinning and dyeing to weaving.
Spun from empty cocoons, Eri is considered a natural peace silk. It uniquely has the luxurious feel of cashmere and the unparalleled comfort of cotton, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. It is easy to dye and maintain.
Eri silk also respects the environment. Castor plants are rainfed and its treatment requires very little water and no chemical agents.
Growing in unison with weavers & artisans from across India, this team has innovated extensively with eri, from hand-spinning to machine spun, handloom to power loom, crochet to knits.
We adapted India's rich heritage of weaving and surface techniques, with new perspectives, using eri as our medium.
Our portfolio - Innovative textiles that embody prosperity, peace, partnership, planet and people.
