Description

DEHAT India (Developmental Association for Human Advancement) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra and has its headquarters in Bahraich, India. For 22 years we have been working with a vision to build a child-centered society, where all children enjoy the fullest scope of their rights.

DEHAT India was founded in 1989 by a group of young activists. For ten years since its inception, we served as a school for "Tharu" tribal villagers and forest children until being registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 on August 21, 2000.

We are tackling challenges related to human rights and protection such as human trafficking, early child marriage, child labour, etc. We are also committed to creating livelihood methods through sustainable agriculture practices to build a safe and secure environment for children. DEHAT India also initiates conversations around adolescent health and sexual reproductive health within the communities and with system actors.

We firmly believe that sustainable development can only succeed when all children are assured of their survival, protection, and full participation in the development process. Through our work, we hope to move towards a world where children enjoy the full range of rights and opportunities.
