Description
The practice of collecting and commissioning miniature as well as Pichwai paintings have been part of the Bansal family since the mid-20th century. The collection traces its origins in a workshop started under the tutelage of Late Shri Radhamohan Bansal in the early 1950s, where he had gathered traditional Rajasthani artisans trained in the country and ritualistic art of Pichwais and miniature making, in an endeavor to keep the tradition alive.
Now in its third generation, the collection continues to thrive under the patronage of Vijendra Bansal, son of Late Shri Radhamohan Bansal, and Abhinav Bansal, grandson of the former. In here, artisans from the same lineage, complete with specialized knowledge of makingpigments from stone, reprise the magic of their predecessors.
